Theme: Japan Retro

This project breathes new life into the nostalgic landscapes, items, and cultural elements of Japan, reimagined through the lens of contemporary design.

From the retro-modern aesthetics of the Showa era to the vibrant pop culture of the Heisei period, and perspectives that lead to the future, each piece is inspired by the keyword “Japan Retro.”

The works, created with the free and unique interpretations of talented designers, are a harmonious blend of nostalgia and innovation. Each piece embodies the warmth of “Japan” while offering a refreshing sense of surprise.

“Japanese Culture That Still Exists Today” by Akiba-Ke

The work “Japanese Culture That Still Exists Today” by creator Akiba-Ke takes inspiration from the theme of “Japan Retro.” It focuses on elements of Japanese culture that have endured through centuries, such as the traditional practice of mizumaki (water sprinkling) and the uniquely Japanese musical instrument, the syamisen. These cultural practices remain deeply rooted in everyday life, transcending time.

Akiba-Ke reinterprets the harmony with nature embodied in mizumaki and the traditional melodies of the syamisen through his own creative perspective, transforming them into contemporary art. This work invites viewers to rediscover the enduring beauty of Japanese culture as it lives on in daily life.

「ジャパン・レトロ」というキーワードから、各デザイナーが
自由な発想で生み出した作品が揃いました。
ノスタルジーと革新が交錯するアート作品は、
どれも「日本」を感じる温かみと新鮮な驚きに満ちています。

「現代にも存在する日本文化」 by Akiba-Ke

クリエイター Akiba-Ke 氏が「ジャパン・レトロ」から着想を得て制作した本作は、「現代にも存在する日本文化」をテーマにしています。数百年前から続く「水撒き」や日本独自の楽器「三味線」は、時代を超えて生活に根付く文化です。

Akiba-Ke氏は、水撒きに込められた自然との共生や、三味線の伝統的な響きを独自の視点で再解釈し、現代的なアートとして昇華させました。この作品は、日常に息づく日本文化の魅力を新たな視点で感じさせてくれます。
