侍は、日本の中世から近世にかけて存在した 武士階級の戦士 を指します。特に鎌倉時代（1185年頃）から江戸時代（1603–1868年）にかけて社会の中枢を担いました。 「侍」という語はもともと「仕える人」という意味で、貴族や将軍、大名などに仕える武人として発展しました。
A samurai refers to the warrior class that existed in Japan from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. They played a central role in society, particularly from the Kamakura period (around 1185) to the Edo period (1603–1868).
The term “samurai” originally meant “one who serves,” and it developed to signify warriors who served nobles, shoguns, and feudal lords (daimyō).
